Jam & Cheese Kolaches

A kolach is a sweet pastry from Czech and Slovak traditions, featuring fruit or fillings like cheese, jam, or poppy seeds in puffy yeast dough. These work brilliantly with Yellow Road Bake-Stable Cheese Filling.

Yield: 14-16 kolaches

Ingredients

  • Sweet Dough:
  • 500 g All Purpose Flour
  • 60 g Sugar
  • 10 g Dry Yeast
  • 1 Egg
  • 40 g Soft Butter
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 200 ml luke warm water (approx)
  • Toppings:
  • 200 g Yellow Road Bakestable Cheese Filling
  • 100 g Strawberry Jam

Directions

  1. Mix altogether the dough ingredients to form a smooth dough
  2. Rest the dough at room temperature for 30 minutes
  3. Divide dough into balls weighing approximately 50 gms each
  4. Flatten each ball of dough and make indentions in the middle using a round lid
  5. Add desired fillings and rest at room temperature for another 30 minutes
  6. Egg wash the sides before baking.
  7. Bake at 180’C for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
